【Event Reports】La Festa Primavera 2019 / The World of Classic Car Rallies Vol. 1

This is the 4th installment of CIGARRO's event collaboration series, supporting active adults who enjoy both their work and play to the fullest. We had the honor of accompanying "La Festa Primavera," known for its classic car rally. La Festa Primavera is a competition held on public roads where participants drive classic cars for 1,250 km over four days. Started in 2009, this year marks its 11th occurrence. The event is guided by three core principles: "Respect for the old," "Forever young at heart, no matter the age," and "Expanding the circle of friendship with everyone involved in the event." As CIGARRO is a cosmetics brand for adults who never forget the spirit of play, we had always hoped to be involved in such a wonderful event. Our wishes were granted by the organizers, who allowed us to be a sponsoring partner, providing CIGARRO products to the entrants (competitors) and granting us permission to cover the four-day rally. We will be presenting this valuable experience in a four-part report.

La Festa Primavera has its origins in the legendary Mille Miglia race, held in Italy from 1927 for 30 years. After a temporary halt and subsequent restart, it continues today as a prestigious classic car rally, attracting numerous participants not only from Italy but also from Japan and other countries around the world. Incidentally, the Japanese version of Mille Miglia is held annually in the Kanto and Tohoku regions in autumn, and Primavera is its sister event, spanning two prefectures and three municipalities.

This year, there were over 70 entries, and the sight of so many classic cars racing on public roads was breathtaking. Atsuta Jingu, the starting point, is a place of great dignity and history. Despite this, the venue had an atmosphere unlike anything in Japan, and the coolness of the entrants who gathered one after another far exceeded our imagination. Not only the cars, but also everyone's fashion and aura were stylish and full of playfulness. Most entries were pairs of drivers and co-drivers (support roles), with combinations such as couples, friends, and parent-child duos. The age range was also wide, with the oldest participant being an impressive 80 years old. People who are passionate about what they love truly shine, regardless of age or gender!

The numerous gleaming emblems proudly displayed caught our eye. As CIGARRO is a brand that values "the joy of design," we couldn't help but check them out.

Next time, we will send you an installment titled "Classic Car Rally: The Allure of the Competition."
